I think the leniency that David received was he had his death penalty forgiven. He will be able to spend the rest of his life in jail. He can be visited by his family that he says he is so concerned with. Good for him. Too bad the only way his victim Harry can be visited is at his grave. Some day, I wonder how much of your family will be visiting you at your grave.
No human has a clean record. Whether stealing bubble gum, fornication, adultery, lying, theft, or even murder. If you believe in God, and I emphasize IF; go back in the bible and read how many people Paul killed, yet God forgave. God insists we forgive. It’s hard, I know. But just as Paul was given another chance, so too, and inmate can deserve another chance. Paul could not bring back the dead, neither can David. We can’t undo stealing bubble gum, retract adultery or fornication. But every human makes bad choices, small and large. Fifty years in prison should be satisfactory for victims, yet we surpass God and pronounce judgment on others. Consider if David were your son. Consider had you been alive when Jesus was being murdered, we likely would have helped condemn Him. Shame on those who never forgive.
Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
